SUMMARY
Manage the environmental, health, and safety programs at the Bedford Park and Greensboro locations, ensuring alignment with Hallstar Industrial Solutions' policies and procedures. The position is based in Greensboro.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Accountable for the achievement of annual safety goals. Develop, establish, and manage appropriate EHS programs, policies, and procedures at each facility to ensure employee safety. Monitor performance of safety, prepare reports on trends, and alert Company management to potential problems.
- Develop and implement action plans to eliminate employee injury, health, and security risks in compliance with OSHA and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Maintain compliance with all EHS regulatory requirements, including keeping the site regulatory calendar updated
- Develop and implement employee training activities focused on health and safety-related topics, including new hire safety training, emergency response procedures, near-miss reporting, injury investigation, safety best practices, and corrective action training.
- Manage proactive safety campaigns for each site, including preparing monthly safety topics and communicating them to the department team during meetings. Collaborate with site leadership to ensure that relevant safety signage and posters are visible. Develop and implement a safety recognition and reward program.
- Conduct regular safety walks at each site to identify existing or potential health and safety hazards and recommend corrective or preventive measures as needed.
- Responsible for directing all aspects of the Process Safety Management (PSM) program. Provide leadership to all employees in the area of PSM to enhance their overall understanding of the program's importance.
- Oversee and manage the workers' compensation program. Manage all incident reporting activities, including near-miss reporting. Manage the first aid program and coordinate medical care for any injured employees. Work with the workers' compensation carrier to manage employee cases and the work program. Prepare, post, and submit required OSHA reports. Ensure first aid kits are stocked and maintained.
- Manage site improvement plans to ensure proper completion of activities. Develop a housekeeping program at the site and work with management to ensure progress and compliance with the program.
- Consult on design and use of equipment, new products and processes, workplace ergonomics, and other safety programs.
- Act as Company liaison to various government agencies performing or requesting inspections concerning safety and or security issues. Participate in local advocacy or community groups as the Company liaison.
- Review and provide official Company interpretation for all new health, safety, and security regulations and proactively recommend and implement policies/procedures to remain in compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry/Science/Engineering or Master’s in Industrial Hygiene/Safety Management/Environmental Science or Engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum of 5-8 years Health and Safety experience in manufacturing and/or chemical manufacturing environment
- Certifications including EPA Hazwoper, OSHA Training, Certified Safety Professional (CSP) strongly desired.
- 5-7 years process safety management (PSM) desired
- Strong US regulatory knowledge and experience with environmental systems including wastewater, air, storm water, spill protection and hazardous waste management.
