We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Safety Director to manage and lead our safety initiatives, expand our current program with new and innovative programs, foster a culture of safety, and ensure compliance with all industry regulations. This position reports to our VP of Operations.

The Role

As our Safety Director , they will play a key role in developing, implementing, and overseeing our safety programs. They will work closely with field crews, project managers, and leadership to create a proactive safety culture that aligns with our company values and commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and enforce company-wide safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular job site safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments, with the assistance of the Safety Coordinator.
• Lead safety training programs for employees, including OSHA and industry-specific certifications.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Stay up to date on all federal, state, and local safety regulations and ensure company compliance.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters, including reporting and recordkeeping.
• Collaborate with leadership and field teams to proactively identify and mitigate hazards.
• Conduct Drug and Alcohol program oversight and testing procedures.
• Lead our Safety Committee.
• Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement in safety practices.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience

• 10+ years of safety management experience in heavy civil construction or a related field.
• Proven experience in construction management or a related field, with a strong understanding of the construction process from planning through execution.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and other industry safety regulations.
• Proven experience conducting safety training and site inspections.
• Demonstrated knowledge of risk management principles as they pertain to construction projects.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to engage crews at all levels.
• Ability to analyze data, write reports, and implement improvements based on findings.
• OSHA 30 or 500 Certification required; CHST or CSP certification a plus.
• Willingness to be hands-on in the field and work directly with crews to ensure safety is embedded in our daily operations.
