Emergency Department – Travel RN Requirements (Seattle area)

Licensure Requirements

• Absolutely NO LICENSE HITS involving:

  • Diverting medications
  • Patient endangerment

  🚫 Submitting a candidate with these hits will result in immediate contract cancellation.

Experience & Skill Requirements

• EPIC EMR experience REQUIRED – 100% non-negotiable
• 2+ years of ER experience required
  • 1+ year must be in a trauma center
• NO FIRST-TIME TRAVELERS
• Must be culturally competent and community care focused

Certifications – REQUIRED (all must be current):

• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS
• PALS
• TNCC
• ENPC

Unit Info

• Beds : 55 ED beds + 8–12 swing beds
• Trauma Bays : 4
• Daily Census : ~250 patients
• Fast Track : Yes – “Accelerated Care” (AC)
• Triage Area : Separate; travelers may do triage after orientation/competency
• Psych Rooms : Yes, with 24/7 monitor tech and security
• Security : On-site, stationed inside and outside ED
• Team Composition per Zone :
  • RN staff
  • MSTs (1–2 per zone)
  • Resource RN per zone
  • Charge RN
  • Flow Coordinator
  • Triage/Protocol Nurses
  • HUC

Patient Mix

• Common Cases : STEMI, stroke, DKA, sepsis, trauma, respiratory, behavioral health
• Ratios :
  • 4:1 (Main ED)
  • 5:1 (Fast Track)
  • 2:1 (Critical Care)

Equipment & Procedures

• RT Equipment : Vents, CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow (RT manages; RN draws ABGs)
• ECGs : Performed by RNs and MSTs
• Tele : Yes – monitored by MSTs and RNs
• X-ray/CT in ED : Yes; RNs transport critical patients
• Phlebotomy : Nurse/MST draw

Scheduling & Policies

• Shift Length : 12s
• Hours : 36 guaranteed/week
• Weekend : Every other weekend required
• Holidays : Required
• Call/Standby : None
• Floating : None
• Scrubs : Royal Blue
• Cancellations : 1 shift per 2-week period allowed
• RTO Policy :
  • Up to 10 days without hospital approval
  • Anything over 10 days or includes holidays requires approval

Orientation

• 1 day with leadership + 2–3 bedside shifts
