Please review the job details below. Maxar is seeking a remote Full-Stack Software Engineer with deep expertise in Java , Rust , and front-end development using React and TypeScript . This role is ideal for someone who excels in both back-end systems design and modern front-end architecture, and who is eligible for or currently holds a Top Secret clearance or CBP suitability . As a Maxar team member, you will have the opportunity to closely support our mission partners, and your work will have a direct impact on maintaining air and maritime domain awareness to combat illicit activities in and around the United States. In this role, you'll work closely with other software engineers along with data scientists leveraging open-source tools and libraries to create and maintain a high-throughput, low latency data analytics pipeline. About Us: We are a multi-faceted software development and data science team working to build and maintain a heuristic based analytical capability, along with other supporting software applications, in support of the Department of Homeland Security's Science & Technology organization. What You'll Be Doing: Contributing to the continued research and development of an existing analytics pipeline tasked with identifying suspicious activity in the air and maritime domains, creating and/or refining software applications in support of data scientists and mission partners, creation and/or refinement of analytical models, and maintenance and enhancement of existing custom applications specifically built to support our mission partners. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Java and Rust. Build modern, responsive, and secure front-end applications using React and TypeScript. Lead architectural decisions, code reviews, and mentoring efforts across the engineering team. Write secure, scalable, and well-tested code for systems deployed in sensitive environments. Support compliance with federal information assurance and software development standards. Participate in paired programming, design reviews, and other mentorship activities to help facilitate growth across the team. Minimum Requirements: Must be a US citizen. Current Top Secret security clearance and/or CBP suitability Bachelor's degree inComputer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related field (4 additional years of experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree. A Master's degree may count as an additional 2 years of experience.). 8+ years demonstrated professional experience with programming, design, and/or development. Strong proficiency in Java and production-level Rust development. Solid experience with React , TypeScript , and modern front-end architecture. Proven track record of delivering full-stack applications in a production environment. Deep understanding of software design principles, distributed systems, and API design. Strong testing and debugging skills (both front-end and back-end). Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Must be willing to work in a remote setting and comfortable communicating via video calls. Preferred Qualifications: Exposure to building and supporting solutions in a cloud-like environment (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, OpenStack, etc...). Experience with DevOps workflows (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines). Experience developing and maintaining low-latency, streaming data processing technologies and paradigms (specifically Apache Flink and/or Apache Kafka) Experience with SQL database development and design (specifically PostgreSQL and Apache Iceberg) You are a creative problem-solver who wants to apply breakthrough technologies for the good of humanity and to keep our country safe. The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. The base pay for this position within California, Colorado, Hawaii, and the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $140,000.00 - $165,000.00 For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
